Strengthening Canadian Society for 125 Years
This month marks the beginning of The Royal Conservatory’s 125th anniversary year. The Conservatory enters this landmark anniversary year as one of the largest and most respected music education institutions in the world and one of the few Canadian organizations to have thrived for over a century.
Each year 600,000 people in 300 communities across Canada participate in The Conservatory’s excellent programs designed to meet the creative needs of Canadians at all stages of their lives and learning. In 2009, this scope was enlarged with the opening of Koerner Hall and the launch of our Performing Arts division. In March 2011, The Royal Conservatory partnered with Carnegie Hall to launch The Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program to promote and expand musical activity and make music a central part of the daily lives of all Americans.
The Royal Conservatory has helped to train a number of great artists including Glenn Gould, Oscar Peterson, David Foster, Sarah McLachlan, Angela Hewitt, and Diana Krall.
Providing the definitive standard of excellence in music education through its curriculum, assessment, performances, and teacher education programs, The Conservatory has had a substantial impact on the lives of millions of people globally.
Motivated by its powerful mission to develop human potential through music and the arts, The Royal Conservatory has emerged over the last two decades as a leader in the development of arts-based programs that address a wide range of social issues.
