Bernstein @ 100 featuring Sebastian Knauer, Jamie Bernstein, Wallis Giunta, and the ARC Ensemble
About This Event
This concert will be a joyful celebration of Leonard Bernstein, conductor of the New York Philharmonic, lecturer, and composer of scores for West Side Story, On the Town, and other popular musicals, on the occasion of his centenary.
German pianist Sebastian Knauer “manages to give such an impression of spontaneity that he never seems to cover the same ground twice.” (The Times)
Jamie Bernstein, daughter of Leonard Bernstein, is a narrator, writer, and broadcaster who has transformed a lifetime of loving music into a career of sharing her knowledge and excitement with others.
Canadian Wallis Giunta, alumna of The Royal Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School, has been praised by Opera News for her “delectably rich, silver-toned mezzo-soprano, with a beautiful sense of line and effortless, rapid runs.”
The ARC Ensemble (Artists of The Royal Conservatory), whose members are all senior faculty of The Glenn Gould School, has become one of Canada's pre-eminent cultural ambassadors. The Ensemble “sets the skin rippling at every turn, with its ear-tingling corporate intonation and magical phrasing.” (The Strad)
