Miles Electric Band
About This Event
The Miles Electric Band has powered onto the jazz scene, breathing new life into the music of Davis’s electric period with an all-star attitude. The Miles Electric Band brings together contemporaries of Davis’s with a whole new generation of musicians to perform music from the ground-breaking 1969-75 era. Artists in the band played with Davis during this seminal period when he released the albums Bitches Brew, On The Corner and Jack Johnson. Like Davis, they continue to push the cultural envelope forward, with an eclectic fusion of jazz, rock, hip hop and world music, proving that the music of Miles will always transcend space and time.
Led by Grammy Award-winning drummer, former bandmate and nephew of Miles Davis, Vincent Wilburn, Jr., principal band members include two-time Grammy nominee Robert Irving on piano, legendary P-funk guitarist Blackbyrd McKnight, acclaimed percussionist Munyungo Jackson, saxophonist Antoine Roney (Lenny Kravitz, Elvin Jones), The Rolling Stones bassist Darryl Jones, programmer/re-mixer DJ Logic, and sitting in for Miles on trumpet is the Grammy nominated Christian Scott.
”Everyone rocked and socked, and it wasn’t nostalgic in the least,” (Daily Variety)
