In its debut appearance at Koerner Hall on Saturday, June 5, at 7:30 p.m., the Toronto Children's Chorus and Alumni Choir, under Artistic Director Elise Bradley, and special guests Beyond the Pale, will take you on a musical journey around the world - with stops in Canada, the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, South America, and New Zealand!
Featured composers include Srul Irving Glick, Allister MacGillivray, Paul Halley, Morten Lauridsen, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Richard Oswin. The Chorus will also premiere its newest commission, Di Zukunft, a Klezmer work composed by Martin van de Ven. The work will be performed with Toronto's acclaimed five-member instrumental ensemble, Beyond the Pale.
Librettist Ruth Howard weaves the poignant writings of children in a pre-war Russian commune to create a rarely heard voice of optimism and hope for a better future.
