Masters of Song
8:00 PM
Koerner Hall
Genre: Classical: Vocal & Opera
Praised by the Chicago Sun-Times as "perhaps the greatest lieder singer of our day," the German baritone Matthias Goerne makes his highly anticipated Festival debut. He and his regular musical partner, the superb pianist Andreas Haefliger, present a programme in which both artists enjoy equal stature. The repertoire includes some of the most inspired Lieder by Schumann and Brahms. Andreas Haefliger also plays a group of tender, inward-looking solo works which Brahms created in the mellow twilight of his final years.
